"To provide people and the environment with the best without harming the ability of future generations to meet their needs"
Brundtland report 1987
At LEATHER by beth, we work with nature’s own materials – leather and brass – and we use them with respect. For us, sustainability begins with durability. A product that can be used for many years is good both for the environment and for the person using it. Therefore, quality, care, and responsible production are a natural part of everything we create.
Leather is a strong and long-lasting material, and we select each hide with great care. Once the best hides are found, they are tanned to make the most of the material and minimize waste. This process requires extra effort, but it is important to us. Good craftsmanship and responsibility go hand in hand.
Danish Design with Traditional Roots
Our design philosophy is based on the best of Danish design: clean lines, functionality, and simplicity. “Less is more” is not just an idea – it is our way of creating products.
We also draw inspiration from classic craft traditions and details from old hunting bags and leather goods that have lasted for decades. These items were designed with function and durability in mind. The details that have stood the test of time are the ones we carry forward in our own designs.
The result is timeless leather products that feel both authentic and carefully crafted – designed to be used, loved, and passed down.
Maximizing Material Use
To make the best use of resources, we create both large products and small accessories in the same collection. This way, we use the entire hide and minimize waste.
All our products are free from harmful chemicals, and together with our suppliers, we continuously explore new, gentler methods for tanning and processing.
Thoughtful Packaging
Packaging should protect the product while also providing a pleasant unboxing experience. We therefore use as few materials as possible, choose recycled and recyclable solutions, and avoid plastic.
Collars and leashes are delivered in a suede pouch – a surplus product that also provides meaningful work opportunities for our manufacturer. Many customers give these pouches a second life as storage bags, makeup bags, or pencil cases.
Honest Talk About Transport
Transportation is still the largest contributor to our CO₂ footprint. It is a necessity in our business, but we actively work to reduce our climate impact.
We consolidate deliveries, plan smarter, and optimize logistics, so we ship fewer packages and use resources more efficiently. Sustainability does not happen overnight, but we are continuously moving in the right direction.
Social sustainability:
Social justice is a core part of who we are. We collaborate closely with our suppliers in Pakistan and India – regions where poverty and inequality remain everyday challenges. For us, responsibility means open dialogue, transparency, and always paying a fair price for true craftsmanship. We also actively encourage our producers to employ more women and create better opportunities in their local communities.
During the COVID period, India was hit especially hard. Factories stood still as workers returned to their villages, leaving entire communities without income. In response, our supplier hired local women and trained them in the delicate craft of hand-braiding leather. Working from their homes gave these women financial independence, pride, and stability for their families. This initiative reflects exactly the kind of impact we want to support — which is why we designed products that celebrate this beautiful braiding tradition.
We also partner directly with small artisans. Our buckles and hooks, for example, are handmade in brass by one skilled craftsman we help keep fully employed. Each piece is naturally unique — not machine-perfect, but full of character. That’s the kind of authentic craftsmanship and human value we want to stand behind.

Financial sustainability:
Economic sustainability is a natural part of our responsibility. At LEATHER by beth, we create products defined by thoughtful design, premium materials, and skilled craftsmanship. This combination ensures not only a beautiful expression but also long-lasting quality — which we believe is the essence of true sustainability.
Economic responsibility is also about people. Everyone involved in creating our products must be treated with respect and fairness, no matter where in the world they work. This means fair wages, proper working conditions, and partnerships where all parties can thrive.
We price our products according to what it truly costs to produce them with consideration for both people and the planet. This gives us a healthy economy that allows us to develop new designs, support traditional craftsmanship, and protect natural resources in a responsible way.
We have no desire to enrich ourselves. What drives us is creating value for our producers, retailers, partners, and — most importantly — our customers. When everyone has positive experiences with us, we know we are doing something right.
This is economic sustainability at LEATHER by beth — simple, honest, and long-term.
This is our view of sustainability in all its simplicity.
